Hawaiiiii

my tablet died in a pathetic accident involving a glass of water and my elbow, so I was stuck with traditional paint and a paint brush. After 3 horrific tries on a butchered illustration board, i came up with something more or less satisfactory. Thank God my little brother accepted it as a birthday present.
Frankly, I'm ashamed I'm out of practice with real paint.

I'm pretty pleased with this animation, mainly because of the new approach to animating I tried with this assignment. I risked it and did it all straight ahead, with only a vague idea in mind. I can never fully plan out my animations because as soon as I put pencil to paper, the characters often take over and do whatever they feel like doing. This one came out pretty well in the end, though.

My first go at lip sync with a character. I really like dealing with dialogue because of the restrain to sync with the voice track and match the tone and mood through body language. The fun part is working within those limitations

I wanted to see what would happen if I painted a texture, skewed the perspective to make it into a floor, and then put paper-like cutouts on top - like a little set. It's quite flat, but there's a lot of dimension to it. Could it maybe be the blur effect? hmm.....
